Abstract
•Connections between hypergeometric differential equation and Fokker–Planck like ones are studied.•The ordinary GP equation is linked to Kummer's function.•The nonlinear, q-FP equation is linked to the general HG one.
We discover a deep connection between the Fokker–Planck equation and the hypergeometric differential equation. The same applies to a nonlinear generalization of such equation.
