Abstract
MCSHAPE is a Monte Carlo (MC) code for simulating the diffusion of X- and γ-ray photons with arbitrary polarization state which takes into account photoelectric effect, and Compton and Rayleigh scattering. In this work, a general discussion on the detector response function in the framework of a MC code is presented, and is described how to include the influence of the detector into MCSHAPE. The energy resolution, being a characteristic of the type of detector, is added by using an independent postprocessing code called RESOLUTION instead of being comprised into the MC. Finally, some simulations with MCSHAPE v.261, taking into account the detector response function and the energy resolution, are compared with experimental data.
