Abstract
The γγ radiation-induced grafting of binary monomers 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidinyl methacrylate (TMPM) or 1,2,2,6,6-pentamethyl-4-piperidinyl methacrylate (PMPM) and methyl methacrylate (MMA) or styrene (St) onto polypropylene (PP) was investigated by simultaneous irradiation technique. The effects of dose, monomers and monomer composition and additive on the grafting were investigated. The PP samples grafted with binary monomers were characterized with FTIR spectroscopy, elemental analysis and thermogravimetric analysis. The radiation resistance of PP containing 0.1% PMPM, which is in PP grafted with binary monomers PMPM+MMA (St), is better than that of PP without any additive.
