Abstract
⺠First report of the theoretical study of reaction of hydroxyl radical with uracil. ⺠Explored the reaction mechanism with moderate computational methods. ⺠Decisive factor in the reaction mechanism is kinetic rather than thermodynamic. ⺠Hydroxyl radical additions are favored over hydrogen abstraction reactions. ⺠Results showed good correlation with reported pulse radiolysis data.
