Abstract
In recent years the interaction of slow multiply charged ions with solid surfaces has gained renewed interest. Basic understanding of charge transfer processes involved in the neutralization sequence has emerged in the 1990s. In this manuscript we present a short overview over refined experimental and theoretical methods which have been developed recently to study subtle details of the interactions.
