Abstract
We report the results of coincidence measurements of Auger electron–ion pairs generated by 1 keV electron beam bombardment of argon where, for the first time, the electron energy resolution is comparable to the natural width of 2p hole. The L–MM Auger spectrum is decomposed into contributions related to the specific final ionic charge states Ar2+Ar2+ to Ar5+Ar5+ allowing the study of decay schemes which lead to different structures in the non-coincidence Auger spectra.
