Abstract
⺠First study ever on recombinant protein produced based on Amoeba proteus cDNA. ⺠Native amebin is one of most abundant actin-binding proteins in amoeba cytosolic fraction. ⺠C-amebin binds both to monomeric and filamentous actin. ⺠C-amebin causes actin filament bundling and inhibits ATPase activity of acto-S1. ⺠Blocking of amebin severely impairs amoeba morphology and motility. ⺠Amebin may be one of key regulators of actin cytoskeleton organization in Amoeba proteus.
