Abstract
► First study ever on recombinant protein produced based on Amoeba proteus cDNA. ► Native amebin is one of most abundant actin-binding proteins in amoeba cytosolic fraction. ► C-amebin binds both to monomeric and filamentous actin. ► C-amebin causes actin filament bundling and inhibits ATPase activity of acto-S1. ► Blocking of amebin severely impairs amoeba morphology and motility. ► Amebin may be one of key regulators of actin cytoskeleton organization in Amoeba proteus.
