► Noscapine inhibited cell viability of colon cancer in a time- and dose- dependent manner. ► G2/M phase arrest and chromatin condensation and nuclear fragmentation were induced. ► Noscapine promoted apoptosis via mitochondrial pathways. ► Tumorigenicity was inhibited by noscapine.
