Abstract
► The murine calvaria-derived cells share similar morphological features with MSCs. ► The murine calvaria-derived cells share similar surface antigens with MSCs. ► But the calvaria-derived cells highly express the transcription factor osterix. ► The calvaria-derived cells lose adipogenesis and gain higher osteogenic capacity. ► Not all types of murine compact bones in the body are a source for MSCs.
