Abstract
⺠We examined the non-lipid lowering effects of statins in endothelial cells. ⺠Combinatory effects of shear stress, statins, TNF-α on hemostatic genes were studied. ⺠Statins have anti-inflammatory effects counteracting the effect of TNF-α. ⺠Statins have endothelial protective properties against unfavorable flow profiles. ⺠Time to reconsider the therapeutic window of statins?
