Abstract
⺠Current knowledge on khat consumption and cardiac complications is reviewed. ⺠Khat chewers present late to an ER with ACS and have higher risk of death and stroke. ⺠Educating physicians and patients will help reduce risks of cardiac complications. ⺠Advocate prospective and controlled studies to elucidate pathogenesis mechanism. ⺠The role of khat in inducing oxidative stress should also be studied further.
