Abstract
⺠We evaluated the circulating levels of the prohormone proBNP in patients admitted to emergency department and suspected of heart failure. ⺠The circulating levels of proBNP were markedly increased in CHF patients admitted to ED. ⺠We uncovered for the first time that the clinical performance of proBNP for the diagnosis of CHF was equivalent to BNP and Nt-proBNP in ED population. ⺠We showed that circulating levels of proBNP were significantly correlated to BNP and Nt-proBNP in ED patients.
