Abstract
ObjectivesTo evaluate the prognostic value of adiponectin in patients with acute destabilized heart failure.Design and methodsAdiponectin was measured in 137 consecutive heart failure patients attending an emergency department. The endpoint was 1-year all-cause mortality.ResultsIn Cox proportional-hazards regression, an adiponectin plasma concentration > 24.1 mg/L had a risk ratio of 2.46 (95% CI, 1.24–4.87), independently of classical risk factors and B-type natriuretic peptide.ConclusionsAdiponectin predicts mortality in patients with acute destabilized heart failure.
