Abstract
⺠The DDE family of recombinases includes many DNA transposases, retroviral integrases, and some enzymes that have been domesticated by the host. ⺠Recent advances in the structural biology of DDE enzymes show common themes despite their highly variable architecture. ⺠Recent structural studies of Y1 transposases illustrate a completely different pathway for DNA transposition, which utilizes single-stranded DNA substrates.
