Abstract
► gLep-aI is ubiquitous expressed, while gLep-aII is mainly located in goldfish brain. ► The widespread distribution of leptin receptor suggests pleitropic leptin actions. ► The gLep-aI increases after food intake in liver, but not in hypothalamus. ► The leptin system expression appears to be independent of the feeding status. ► Leptin could signal short-term changes in food intake, as postprandial satiety.
