Abstract
A rapid, sensitive fluorescence measurement method for detecting the bacterial count using CdSe/ZnS as a fluorescence marker was described. High-quality CdSe/ZnS nanocrystals were synthesized and successfully conjugated with bacteria. The fluorescence intensity was proportional to bacterial count in the range of 102–108 CFU/mL and the low detection limit was 102 CFU/mL.
