Abstract
Some of the most serious problems related to the reliability of cement kiln are bearings failures and damages to the roller carrying surface, both of which often occur without apparent warnings. Although the root causes of these problems can be understood, their on-time detection still remains a problem. This paper presents a new methodology for proactive monitoring of such machines and provides on-line information pointing to potential failure. Both, theoretical and practical considerations are discussed.
