Abstract
Localized drug delivery has many potential benefits for a number of therapeutic applications. Microbubbles and microdroplets are potential vehicles for localized drug delivery. This article provides an overview of biofluid mechanics related to microbubbles and microdroplets, and reviews recent developments in their application for drug delivery. Particular attention is devoted to acoustically-activated microdroplets.
