Abstract

The paper examines the office environment in the context of a university building designed for two quite different purposes – as office accommodation for staff and as an exemplar of ‘dementia-friendly’ design. Drawing on interviews with staff working in the building both shortly before and shortly after its completion, the paper explores differing views on office design and the use of space. It suggests that, with an appropriate design, a building can serve a dual purpose.
