Shielding from Harm: The MRI Screening Tool—The First Line of Defense in MRI Safety

•The magnetic resonance (MR) screening tool is the first line of defense for protecting patients and employees in the MR environment.•The MR scanner's magnetic field is powerful, and it is always on for 24 hr a day.•The screening tool needs to report all implants in a patient's body, both medically implanted and nonmedically implanted, in order for the radiologist to make the best decision on scanning the patient to achieve the best quality scan without harm to the patient.
