Abstract
Gastric complications as: constipation, abdominal pains, disturbances of motor function of the digestive tract, and elevated liver function tests are frequent in the course of anorexia nervosa (AN). Usually they are relieved with body mass restoration. Urgent surgical complications in AN are very rare. We report a case of mechanical ileus in a patient with AN. The current disease and its treatment (risperidon) as well as intraoperatively diagnosed congenital defect (intestinal malrotation) probably contributed to the occurrence of this severe complication.
