Abstract
We present a case of a 5.5-year-old boy with complications after long-term retention of a foreign body in the esophagus. The patient presented certain symptoms such as dysphagia, odynophagia, cough and vomiting. The case mentioned above proves that in children with chronic respiratory symptoms (such as cough, stridor) or gastrointestinal ones (dysphagia, odynophagia) the possibility of foreign body ingestion should always be considered as the cause of these complaints.
