Abstract
Dental caries in the primary and permanent dentition is the wide-ranging disease, leading to the rapid development and in particular not only increase the percentage of persons with the tooth decay, but also the number of injured teeth in each person. Caries disease, its inflammable complications, penetration of microorganisms deep within the tooth cavity and reach periapical tissues of mandibular or maxillary jaw provokes pain and swelling, that may lead to spreading infection, affecting the entire health state during child development. Results of the epidemiological research conducted as part of the monitoring, are defining tooth decay as social disease. Prevention of dental caries should begin as early as possible at the prenatal phase, in the first place education of mothers during pregnancy by a dentist and a gynecologist (prevention process), later in the early months of life pediatrician role is the most important. Pediatrician during visits gives professional advice to parents about oral hygiene, appropriate diet and elimination of habits that are harmful to dentition. The multidirectional precaution includes early and traditional preventing, as well as the collective, group prevention and individual home and professional ones.
