Abstract
1. Purulent meningitis in full-term neonates, both early-and late-onset, often with non characteristic symptoms, despite the marked improvement in acute phase survival, is connected with high risk of cerebral injuries. 2. The negative CSF cultures do not exclude diagnosis of purulent meningitis in full-term neonates. 3. Elimination of perinatal risk factors connected with non physiological course of pregnancy and delivery, early diagnosis and use of antibiotic therapy with confirmed efficiency in neonatal meningitis, it seems to be now only one prophylaxis of post-inflammatory CNS injuries in full-term neonates
