Abstract
Thalassemias have rarely been recognized in Poland as a cause of hemolytic anemia. Modern biochemical methods and genetical screening have led to a change in this opinion. We present two patients in whom α thalassemia was recognized as a cause of erythrocytosis and microcytosis.
