Abstract
The work has presented the ancient Greeks' and Romans' ideas on the subject of infant's nutrition. Besides many unacceptable ways of infant's nutrition in our time, i.e. feeding by honey or diluted wine, it is highlighted that the matter, accepted also by Soranus - the mother breast milk - is the best source of nourishment for a baby, mainly and entirely in the first 6 months of life. Today, for the obvious reasons, the institution of wet-nurse doesn't exist (technological development in the dairy industry). Neither is recommended feeding by animal's milk, particularly goat's milk. The progress of science contradicts the correlation between teething process and the infant's diet expansion. The most favorable age of ending the breastfeeding is earlier, now. It has been changed from 3-3.5 years to 1-1.5 years of life.
