Abstract
The decision of teenagers not to start smoking is influenced mainly by: knowledge, family attachment, and personality. The answers of girls and boys reveal statistically significant differences related to the following issues: knowledge on harmfulness of smoking, influence of siblings, and occurrence of nausea, medical contraindications, and the fear of becoming infertile.
