Abstract
Since the mid 1980s, cases of severe invasive Streptococcus pyogenes (GAS) infections associated with a toxic shock syndrome have been reported in all parts of the world. Number of these types of infections is still increasing and remains a significant public health problem. Because of the severity of invasive GAS disease associated with high morbidity and mortality rates and increased risk of infection among close contacts it is critical to identify prevention strategies of this disease. Most these infections are thought to be sporadic and over 85% resulting from community-acquired infection. This article presents the recent proposal of recommendation for the control of invasive GAS disease among, household contacts of persons with invasive GAS infections.
