Abstract
In a paper we presented an eight-year-old boy with coeliac disease. He was suspected for the disease because of gastrological sypmtoms (abdominal pain, reccurrent diarrhoea, failure to thrive) and positive serum IgA antiendomysial antibody titer (+80 IF). In the patient was made upper alimentary endoscopy with one duodenal mucosa biopsy. The endoscopic findings included a mosaic appearance of the duodenum mucosa, micronodularity and scalloping of duodenal folds. In the histopathological picture of the duodenum mucosa was found increased intraepithelial lymphocyte count (30/100 epithelial cells). Because of lack of villous atrophy in the first endoscopy three biopsies were taken during repeated upper alimentary endoscopy. In the histopathological picture was found total villous atrophy with infiltrative lesions and crypt hyperplasia (3c according Marsh' classification). Because of coeliac disease was recommended gluten-free diet.
