Abstract

SummaryIn the context of this prospective study we have been able to show that in patients with no radiological evidence of hip dysplasia or femoroacetabular impingement partial arthroscopic resection of the acetabular labrum leads to a significant improvement in their symptoms and general wellbeing. An additional cartilaginous defect has a significantly negative influence on the overall result. On basis of this investigation we conclude that arthroscopic partial resection of the labrum is an adequate treatment of a torn labrum in patients without advanced osteoarthritis.
