Abstract
This article reviews the currently available contrast media used for imaging during coronary angiography and percutaneous intervention. Recent data regarding potential adverse effects of contrast media and strategies to minimize adverse events are discussed. In addition, the authors review the state of the art in automated contrast injection for coronary angiography, including protocols used for performance of rotational coronary angiography and digital subtraction imaging in the catheterization laboratory.
