Abstract
Insulin resistance and obesity are associated in a proportion of Indian patients with NAFLD. However, the association with MS as defined by ATP-III in Indian patients is not strong compared to the West. It is likely that pathogenetic mechanisms unrelated to MS underlie development of NAFLD in a proportion of Indian patients.
