Abstract
: It is seen that there is high prevalence of insulin resistance and MS in Asian Indians compared to Caucasians, accounted for by greater central obesity in Asian Indians. Elevated CRP levels are significantly associated with central obesity in individual with MS in our population. An elevated CRP level in the MS group suggests that addition of CRP to lipid evaluation provides an important tool for prediction of MS especially in Asian Indians.
