Abstract
Primary hyperaldosteronism is one of the potentially curable forms of arterial hypertension. It is generally considered an uncommon disorder. However some experts believe that it may be the case of hypertension in 5% to 14% of the patients. In most of the cases, it is caused by a benign tumor of the adrenal gland and occurs between the age of 30 and 50 years. In these cases, the high blood pressure is secondary to the renal action of aldosterone. This causes an increase in salt and water reabsorption which leads to an increase in intravascular volume and secondarily to an increase in blood pressure.
