Abstract
The purpose of this review is to provide an overview of the immunotherapies that are used in pediatric heart transplantation. It includes a discussion of induction therapy, maintenance immunosuppression strategies, diagnosis and management of rejection, and new therapies that are undergoing study. This review includes information on mechanism of action of the therapies, pediatric dosing, target levels, and selected side effects. Much of the practice of pediatric heart transplant is based on clinical experience, but when available appropriate evidence is referenced within this manuscript.
