Abstract
Mediastinal tumors are relatively rare in children. Depending on their location and extension, they can cause central airway obstruction and life-threatening events. Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation is an effective strategy to relieve the acute cardiorespiratory compromise provoked by that obstruction while an appropriate treatment is initiated. The case is presented of a girl with an anaplastic lymphoma that debuted with severe tracheobronchial obstruction and respiratory failure, for which the use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation was successful.
