Abstract
Design and synthesis of various types of photoswitchable fluorescent molecules, which are applicable to “single-molecule optical memory” and “super-resolution fluorescence microscopy”, have been reviewed.
► Examples of fluorescence photoswitching at the single-molecule level are introduced. ► Fluorescence properties of photoswitchable fluorescent molecules are reviewed. ► Fluorescence photoswitching properties are marshaled in detail.
