Abstract
With the support of regional health institutions and due to the will of some healthcare professionals involved in patient education, a transversal patient education unit (UTEP) was instituted in 2006 at the university hospital of Besançon. Under guidance of a steering committee, a coordinating team of five individuals trained in patient education, realized an initial complete inventory of existing activities in patient education, plans, resources and needs. Following this inventory, the coordination team has set up various activities (trainings, projects' support, logistic assistance, educational documents…) for professionals care, aimed to facilitate development of patient education in the hospital.
