Abstract
Thes RT-PCR technique is a sensitive, specific method for early diagnosis of histoplasmosis, particularly when respiratory secretions or bone marrow samples are analyzed. The reliability is lower in serum, but it can be used as an additional, complementary technique to culture and serology in HIV patients.
