Abstract
This paper presents the survey of various techniques for linearisation of multi-machine power system dynamics and designing of controllers for the transient stability problem. The simulation results are presented for a typical configuration of a WSCC multi-machine power system. Finally, it concludes with a comparison of their effectiveness in handling the transient stability problem of multi-machine power systems.
