Abstract
⺠Axotomy reduces the number of TRPV1-positive cells and TRPV1 expression in the retina. ⺠TRPV1 antagonism does not reduce RGC loss after acute optic nerve axotomy. ⺠TRPV1 activation induces protein nitration and Müller cell reaction in normal retinas. ⺠TRPV1 blockade after axotomy lowers protein nitration and Müller cell reaction.
