Abstract

This paper describes the approach of using fuzzy logic to design a measurement system in outcome-based education (OBE). The traditional OBE and its measurement method are first presented. A fuzzy system is then designed based on the traditional OBE measurement. We have tested both systems using a set of course assessment and found the mean square errors between traditional OBE and fuzzy method to be small. We have further shown how the fuzzy system can be modified to accommodate different levels of difficulty based on course assessments and concluded on the possibility of employing fuzzy method in OBE measurements as it offers flexibility in tuning the input–output relationships of OBE course assessment.
