Abstract
In this paper, interval estimation for the Birnbaum–Saunders distribution is considered. The generalized confidence intervals for the shape parameter and some important reliability quantities such as its mean, quantiles and reliability function are explored. A simulation study illustrates the accuracy of these generalized confidence intervals. Finally, two numerical examples are used to illustrate the proposed procedures.
