Abstract
A recent gathering of researchers at the EMBO conference “At the joint edge of Cellular Microbiology and Cell Biology” was aimed at melding ideas from both scientific fields to advance our understanding of infectious diseases at the cellular level. Work presented at this meeting highlighted how pathogens exploit host cell membrane processes to their advantage and also revealed fundamental signaling and trafficking mechanisms of eukaryotic cells.
