Abstract
In this paper, using bulk terminal of transistors as well as auxiliary cross-coupled amplifiers, the gain and noise figure (NF) of a conventional common-source low-noise amplifier (LNA) with resistive feedback are improved significantly. The proposed LNA utilizes a new technique for cancelling the thermal noise of transistors. This LNA is simulated in a 0.18 μm CMOS technology. Simulation results show a 28-dB voltage gain for the frequency range of 10–1000 MHz, and IIP3 better than −11 dBm. The noise figure in the frequency range of 100–1000 MHz is 1.2–1.4 dB. Moreover; the noise figure in the frequency range of 35–100 MHz is also less than 2 dB. The total current drawn from a 1.8-V supply voltage is 15 mA.
