Abstract
For multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar with widely separated subarrays, the range cells that a certain target locates in are distinct in different channels. How to fix the range cell of interest for every channel for detection becomes a problem. We divide the area of interest into identically shaped grid cells and propose two methods to decide the test range cell for every channel in a grid cell. Numerical results show that MIMO radar has higher detection performance than the phased array radar. Compared to the Center-method, the Comparison-method has better performance and independent with the size of the grid cell, the subarray configuration and the location of the grid cell, however, it has higher computational complexity.
