Abstract

The paper describes a particularly simple form of the exact solutions for two-dimensional electromagnetic wave diffraction by a slot in the plane perfectly conducting screen with infinitesimal thickness, and by a complementary strip. Following the mode-matching technique, the problem is formulated in terms of dual integral equations in Fourier amplitudes of diffraction fields, which are solved by infinite discrete Fourier series in slot (strip) modes. For the coefficients of these series (or mode amplitudes), the dual equations yield linear systems of algebraic equations.
