Abstract
This paper analyzes the design of a multi-standard and multi-rate sub-sampling front-end for software radio systems. The front-end architecture uses a technique that incorporates programmable cascaded digital decimation stages to accommodate variable bit rates. The impact of non-idealities in the ADC on the system performance requirement is adressed briefly considering real time implementations. A noise figure equation that takes into account the effects of the quantization noise and the interference signal that may be incurred by adjacent bands is also derived.
