Abstract
Although many power models for the analysis of ICT devices have been proposed, we could not find a suitable one when we needed a power model for the simulation of mobile core networks. When we analyzed our requirements for a power model, we realized that many features were present but none of the models had them all. This led us to the idea, that we could formulate a generic power model from which other power models can be derived. We thus propose an approach for the design of power models that is based on two steps, namely analysing the use cases for the power model and designing the concrete power model as an instance of a generic power model.
