Abstract
Multicasting architecture is essential for the delivery of a variety of multimedia applications. IPv6 provides a very comprehensive range of protocols to deal with this delivery mechanism. However few, if any, implementations exist for this architecture in IPv6. The objective of this paper therefore is to describe the implementation of a testbed in which the mechanisms of multicast IPv6 can be tested and evaluated. The paper also provides background to this work and details multicast routing as well as security issues facing the implementation of IPv6 multicast networks.
